FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HE’S BACK ON THE AIRWAVES! THE BILLY V RADIO SHOW DEBUTS TONIGHT

HONOLULU, HI, April 14, 2017 – Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. That’s actually the description of the Man of Steel aka Superman. But following a close second is none other than Hawaii’s favorite on-air personality, William Van Osdol, affectionately known as Billy V. In addition to being a television reporter, he will return to his first love of radio beginning tonight, April 14th, on Salem Media’s 107.9 Hawaii‘s Kool Gold.

The Billy V Radio Show will be entertaining audiences every other Friday night from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. with the upbeat and eclectic energy of the 80’s, an era that is close to Billy’s heart. Says Billy, “My concept behind the evening drive time show is meant to give people a fun and upbeat start to the weekend through classic songs from legendary artists including Earth, Wind & Fire, Bon Jovi, Chaka Khan, Boy George, and Duran Duran, as well as feature bands who were making such a mark in Hawaii at that time such as Cecilio & Kapono, Kalapana, and Country Comfort.” Adds Dita Holifield, Salem Media Group’s general manager, “We are huge fans of Billy and we are excited to have his retro radio show be a part of our ohana. He is well respected and such a pro, and we look forward to having him back on the airwaves as there is no one else like Billy V!”

Often referred to as the “Voice of Hawaii” and the “Hawaiian Ryan Seacrest,” Billy V has been at the forefront of every major event in Hawaii whether in the role as broadcast anchor of the annual Merrie Monarch Festival, emcee of the Miss Hawaii Scholarship Pageant or CBS/Hawaii Five-0’s Sunset On The Beach, or as Game Day Activities Coordinator for University of Hawaii Athletics. A member of the #1 most watched morning television show Hawaii News Now Sunrise on KHNL/KGMB/KFVE since its inception in 2007, Billy V reported on music and entertainment segments from his Hawaiian 105 KINE Radio Studios. By 2014, he became a Hawaii News Now Sunrise Feature Reporter. And in May 2017, Billy V will mark his 21st year as the emcee of the 40th Annual Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards.

About Billy V

William Van Osdol aka Billy V was raised in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. A local boy of mixed heritage (including Hawaiian, Filipino, French, English, Dutch, German and American Indian), he wasn’t your typical elementary school student. Years later, Van Osdol would grow into “Billy V” and embark on an amazing 33-year journey in the radio broadcast industry in Hawaii with 24 of those years spent at KCCN/KINE Radio Stations and nine years with Hawaii News Now Sunrise on KHNL/ KGMB/KFVE.
