PROFILE

Billy V is a veteran expert emcee who has been at the forefront of numerous events in the entertainment, hospitality, and sports industries; most of Hawaii’s biggest events. For the past 40 years he has been the broadcast voice and face of momentous events in areas including U.H. and professional sports arenas, cultural and political gatherings, to A-list conventions and concerts. He has a passion for bringing people together and being a part of their lives through these memorable festivities.

Entertainment reporter, but also able to substitute when needed for Breaking News, Traffic Reporting and Weather Reporting.  Historical broadcasts include Hokuleaʻs Return Home, Live from Iolani Palace and the Statewide Sunrise "On-The-Road" Tour.  Also anchoring broadcasts for the Queen Liliʻuokalani Hula Competition, the Merrie Monarch Festival and 20 years of the Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards.

GAME DAY ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR

University of Hawaii Athletics | December  1999 - present

  • Started as emceeing Rainbow Classic for Outrigger Hotels & Resorts

  • UH asked Billy V to join Marketing Team to do more sports

  • Handled UH Menʻs & Womenʻs Volleyball & Basketball and Football till 2016

  • Currently handles Womenʻs Volleyball, Menʻs Basketball & Football

Emcee under University of Hawaii Athletics Marketing Department, assisting with client relations and Game Day Coordination.  In recent years with more digital display and more coordination between Marketing, SSC, Administation, band, Cheerleaders, Rainbow Dancers, Video board and Sound, Coordination is more like network television; and Billy V brings all the different UH "behind  the scenes" and performing teams to create professional sporting events that are often unique to Hawaii.

Hawaiian 105 KINE | June 2006 - Nov 2015 and 2019-2021

  • Full-Time Morning Personality as a solo announcer

  • Morning Show as "Naʻau Therapy" with Mele Apana 

  • Highest ratings in years on KINE with Naʻau Therapy

  • Billy V left in 2015 after partner Mele Apana was released

  • Asked to return as weekend personality in 2019

Responsible (along with Mele Apana) for bringing Hawaiian music back to Hawaiian 105 KINE.

KCCN FM 100 | February 1990 - June 2006

  • KCCN FM 100ʻs first Music Director under Honolulu Skylark

  • Second Program Director

  • Moved to FM 100 Morning Jam with Charly Espina in 1998

  • Neilson Ratings #1 Radio Station in 2000.

Developed KCCN FM 100ʻs Programming with Honolulu Skylark, assisted in building studios and production rooms, implemented programs on-air, worked with sales teams until called to assist Hawaiian 105 KINE under same company in 2006.
