Radio and TV personality, “Billy V,” aka William Van Osdol of BVO Enterprises LLC, has been a fixture in the entertainment industry for quite some time. Often referred to as “The Hawaiian Ryan Seacrest” for his diversified career, Billy is regarded as the voice of Hawaii.
Currently an entertainment reporter on Sunrise at Hawaii News Now, Billy is not a newcomer to the industry. A 31-year veteran of broadcast industry in Hawaiʻi with 24 of those years spent at KCCN/KINE Radio Stations, Billy’s extensive background has led him to work with legendary talents such as Honolulu Skylark and Krash Kealoha at KORL and KCCN Radio Stations. He was a key team member who worked to bring KCCN FM 100 on the air and became its first music director, and later, Program Director.
Throughout his career, his friendly voice and warm personality have made him the go-to choice for emceeing numerous high profile events in Hawaiʻi including the Merrie Monarch Festival, Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, Lantern Floating Hawaiʻi, and the Miss Hawaiʻi Scholarship Pageant. As well, Billy has been the Game Day Activities Coordinator and “face” of U.H. Athletics for the past 15 years.
Billy serves on the Board of Directors including Ohana Arts on O’ahu, and the Kona Club of Honolulu, the latter that raises scholarship funds for graduating seniors of Konawaena and Kealakehe High Schools where Billy was once a student. As of 2016, Billy has created a scholarship at Konawaena High School for a senior student who wishes to explore a career in broadcast journalism.
When not working on his growing empire, Billy enjoys spending time with his wife, Sawako, son, Leion, and puppy, Chewy.
